Met Erica Alexander. Wow!

Tags :

What a great pleasure it was to meet actress/writerErica Alexander(GET OUT, THE COSBY SHOW, and LIVING SINGLE) to discuss my next project! The mission of Ms. Alexander’s production company, COLOR FARM MEDIA, with co-Founder/CEO Ben Arnon is quite clear.

We raise issues.

We breed diversity.

We nurture perspectives.

We grow talent.

I was also extremely grateful to meet TRAILBLAZER STUDIOS audio guru Eric Johnson, who graciously invited me schedule a time to bring my East Carolina University students.

Seems like the film and video production field is on a FAST, FAST, FAST rise in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill) area. ~ Captain Obvious

“Black Border Warriors: The Seminole Indian Scouts” (hot new documentary)

Tags :

Had the pleasure recently doing some consultant work for director/producer Joseph Hill’s unparalleled documentary, BLACK BORDER WARRIORS: The Seminole Indian Scouts. It’s about an elite group of 1/2 black, 1/2 Indian commandos for the U.S. Cavalry during the Indian Wars in the American West in the 1870’s and 1880’s, primarily shot in TX and OK. His documentaries garnered several major accolades including a Peabody nomination, Cable ACE award, Beacon award, and National Association of Black Journalist award.

I first met “Joe,” a reporter/producer for 22 years, when we worked at a TV station in Rochester, NY. He talked about making this film one day — and that day has indeed arrived! When I saw the rough cut of BBW, I immediately thought, “Why wasn’t any of this mentioned in school?” Way to go Joe!

He also does invited lectures about the Black Seminole and the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts, as well as other historical subjects including the History of Haiti, Canadian towns settled by fugitive slaves, and Black Migratory Patterns in the U.S. All compelling stuff!  ~ K
